The aim of the project is to incorporate more sound into the visitor experience at SCH. This will be done through stand-alone interactives in each of the galleries as well as individual hand-held devices. The project will incorporate a more dynamic website which will replace the current app and can be used both in the stand-along kiosk and on a smartphone/tablet. Finally, we will create a ‘sound scape’ in the concert hall that will play music as the visitor enters the room, supplementing the VR headset.
40 instruments displayed at St Cecilia’s Hall need new photographs taken. The current images of these instruments are either black and white, of poor quality (typically scans of slides) or were taken before conservation treatment was carried out on the instruments. These images would be incorporated into the dynamic website / app and will represent the collections both online and in gallery. The images will also replace existing images of MIMO.
The Sounds of St Cecilia’s project will allow visitors to gain a better understanding of our collections through accessing the collection digitally. This will enhance the visitor experience.
